Meralco, NGCP begin restoring power lines damaged by Santi 10/31/2009 | 02:29 PM
A total of 265 circuits, or 39 percent of the company’s customers, suffered power outages in Metro Manila, the Meralco said.
According to the NGCP, the brownouts in Metro Manila were primarily caused by the shutting down of two transformer units in its Sucat substation in Paranaque City, which experienced flooding due to the rains brought by the typhoon.
Several other transmission lines in Metro Manila and southern Luzon tripped due to winds caused by the Santi, which cut the power supply of half of NGCP’s Luzon grid on Saturday.
Meralco and NGCP however assured their customers that they have already mobilized their personnel for power restoration activities.
Typhoon Santi, which brought incessant rains and strong winds to the country starting late Friday, caused floods and massive power outages in different parts of Metro Manila and southern Luzon. [http://www.gmanews.tv/story/176008/santi-causes-floods-brownouts-in-metro-manila-luzon]
The power outages in Metro Manila also halted the operation of the Light Rail Transit Line 1, which runs through Caloocan City to Baclaran in Pasay City on early Saturday. [http://www.gmanews.tv/story/176006/santi-disrupts-lrt-1-operations]

Transformer blast cuts power in parts of NCR and Rizal
Manila Electric Company’s (Meralco) Dina Lomotan told radio dzBB that as a result, power to nine Meralco substations have been cut, affecting the cities of Marikina, Pasig, San Juan, and parts of Quezon City in Metro Manila, including Meralco Center, and the towns of Binangonan, Taytay, Angono, Cainta and Antipolo in Rizal province.
Lomotan did not say how long the outage will last, but assured that they are working double-time to restore power the soonest time. (As of 10:00 pm, power has reportedly been restored in some affected service areas.)
A Taytay police officer interviewed over radio dzBB as of posting said that firefighters are still battling a fire caused by the explosion, which occurred about 8:45 p.m.
Faye de Jesus of the NGCP confirmed that their transformer in Dolores encountered a "technical problem," but declined to confirm if it was caused by an explosion.
De Jesus explained that the NGCP is still assessing the cause of the power outage.
Meralco’s Lomotan expressed fears that if the NGCP fails to solve the problem immediately, Metro Manila would have to endure a series of “rotating brownouts."
“I don't how long they will be able to fix that. The worst-case scenario is (that we might have a rotation of) brownouts. Pero sisikapin namin kung saan tayo pwedeng mag-ipon, pagsisikapan namin (But we will try to supply in places where we can)," Lomotan said.
The power outage comes at a time when Marikina, Pasig and adjacent towns have been suffering power blackouts and spotty restoration in the past two weeks due to persistent floods left by storm “Ondoy." – Aie Balagtas See, GMANews.TV

Happy 67th Birthday Boss Lino!
"I am 67 going 47. . . .The way I feel. "
Today is his birthday in the Philippines.
Teka kakanta muna ako ha....kantang only in the Philippines.
Hapi-Hapi-Hapi Birthday!
Sinong may tamang sagot?

Schonbrunn Palace was built as a summer residence for Empress Sisi. The grounds include a park, zoo and large labyrinth that are open for tour as well as an ornate, Baroque style palace. There is so much to see at this palace that you should plan an entire day here.
I was very fortunate to be chosen for a training and the location of the training was Vienna, Austria. This was my first time to travel outside of the Philippines. Thank you Napocor.

Bosing Happy Birthday!
8-Track to IPod - Part I
Technology has gone a long way. So if you were born in the 50's you can relate to my story.
We were very fortunate specially those of us who are music lovers. I have seen and experienced these things in my childhood. The 8-track tape players came when I was in high school and everybody adored that piece of gadget because you can listen to your favorite songs in your car, jeeps and buses. It was like having your turntable in your car because you can listen to your favorite LP that was copied in the 8-track tape. This technology came before the cassette tape.
Even at home this 8-track player became very popular because you can enjoy listening to music and still continue to listen in your car which was not possible in LPs.
I still remember whenever I was able to visit Manila. I have to bring my old 8-track cartridges to Raon St., Sta. Cruz, Manila and go to a record store where I will choose the LP that I want to be copied in the 8-track cartridge for ten pesos per cartridge and if a selection of songs that would be for a different price.
And what amazes me at that time was they were able to make an FM tuner that was in the size of the 8-track cartridge. FM tuner was very rare because at that time only AM radios are available in car radios. So if you got tired of listening to your 8-tracks then just plug-in the FM tuner then Ola! you have now a radio program in stereo sound.
This was just the beginning.
So what was your experience with this technology?

Letter of Engr. Claudio "Odie" Giron to Transco President
25 June 2009
FOR: MR. ARTHUR N. AGUILAR
President and CEO
FROM: THE SUPERINTENDENT
Central Luzon Area Control Center
NOD, Luzon System Operations
SUBJECT: NOTICE OF TERMINATION
Sir:
We marvel and appreciate for receiving three (3) spur-of-the-moment “Notices of Termination” one at home, the other one at the office and third one sent through E-mail.
If these three notices is possible and can be done spontaneously and instantly, then, how about the other side of the coin was left hanging – the separation benefits and other claims.
Allow me to reiterate: Not all separated employees can be absorbed by NGCP, which was clearly disclosed in your letter. These are persons who have lots of worries. And at the end of the day, if they receive no more salaries and wages from TransCo but they have a family that needs to survive and attend to school. Will they (personnel not re-hire by NGCP) still receive salary for the period July 1-15 ? This is a gray area not defined!
How can both ends of the rope meet with their daily expenses on this work transition period? Have you ever seen this scenario? Yet, you are not helping them!
How about me? Ohh, thanks GOD, to NPC & TransCo that made possible both my daughters who are now professionals and blessed with stable job as well as my wife….. then, why worry? Actually, I just attempt to put-on shoes of troubled person on mine.
Nevertheless, it’s nice to hear this assurance from you: Quote, unquote…
”Please be informed that the processing of your separation benefits and other claims will be prioritized subject to the submission of clearance and other complete supporting documents.”
This vow was given 01 June 2009 from your Notice of Termination.
Almost a month was passed; we only heard the tic-tac of a second of time. Yes, we only heard 2,102,400 tics out of 2,592,000 seconds in a month nothing more nothing less.
Wow, do not say that all of us never completed the clearances and supporting documents (?) and cause impediments on processing.
At the moment, NPC is still giving us a real fight on our claims. This is our heartfelt suggestion, why not try to put-on shoes of separated employee on your feet! Or are you in the same contentious arena of NPC?
You never ask who am I to ask this thing? Hereunder are full details who really am I. Thank you.
I remain, I am

What makes a Dad-Author Unknown
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so,
He called it ... Dad(ako Tatay)
Happy Father's Day!

Don't Worry, Be Happy - Claudio Giron
Mateo 6: 25-34
During my school days, how I wish to study in one of the highly regarded Universities like UST, and Mapua. But GOD knows better, and make possible to let me enroll in National University (NU) a small, decent, reliable of good standing school.
In those days, the NU different colleges - Engineering, Architecture, Dentistry and Pharmacy are full of pride posting their Licensure Examination Board Topnochers. Thanks GOD, feel fulfilled why I enrolled on the same university.
Not knowing my parents are more thankful because of such affordable and reasonable tuition fee. As I always heard from them, “Study hard.” Every time I left home to school. Every time I registered in every semester enrollment. Every time they gave my allowance. They really prayed that I will finish my chosen course.
Sense, that they have some worries and I just known it when my times come. This is the time when my two daughters studied also in Manila , to those schools where beforehand I wish to study and GOD make it possible.
HE set-up the needed life preparation; my study, graduation, passing the board examination, and the well paid NPC job to sustain my daughters schooling, as well as the needs of my parents, brother and sisters. Interestingly, NPC made it possible to extend help for my 4 brother and 5 sisters to graduate.
My eldest daughter make it in UST while the youngest in Mapua and they both graduated. My wife prayed really hard daily, for the life success of my two daughters. Also, I prayed then and dedicated my daughters both right after their birth to our LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST.
So, we pray. We get busy ourselves. We start doing we can think of to move forward in such positive ways. Accordingly, we naturally experienced trials, so, we worry and find lots of time in this dilemma - for almost three years suffering and continuous treatment (Dec 1980 - March 1983) until I was finally operated in my spinal column, L3-L4 of lumbar section. The sickness was failed to diagnose earlier. This happened after two years of my Dec 1978 wedding, Yes, in early part of my married life. But we know we should trust GOD.
Ever since my wife turn into HIS Words, meanwhile, I am more concern of doing the right things, to work-on of supporting, knowing their needs, the necessary guidance and monitoring my daughters – to remind us HE is walking with us and inviting us to hand over to HIM our worries and burden.
The Bible tells us, “Cast all your care upon HIM, for HE cares for you.” (1 Peter 5: 7) and “GOD shall supply all your needs according to HIS riches in glory by CHRIST JESUS.” (Phil. 4:19).
When your mind turns to anxious thought about the future, remember that “your heavenly FATHER knows.” (Matt 6:32) and will give you what you need. – Cindy Hess Kasper.
“I do not know about tomorrow; it may bring me poverty; But the one who feeds the sparrow is the one who stands by me.”–Stanphill.
So, “Worry is a burden GOD never intended us to go through.”
Mateo 6: 33
Amen
